Consultation Meeting Notice on Market Engagement for Bangladesh Strategic Integrated Flood Resilience Project (B-SAFE) (BWDB Part)
The Bangladesh Strategic Integrated Flood Resilience Project (B-SAFE), planned to be financially supported by the World Bank, aims to increase the resilience of flood-vulnerable communities and their livelihoods against extreme weather events through climate-resilient infrastructure, improved disaster risk management, and community-based resilience initiatives.
The project procurement will follow the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for Investment Project Financing (IPF) Borrowers. While the project is currently under preparation, it is expected that procurement activities will commence following project approval. As part of the preparation of a fit-for-purpose Project Procurement Strategy for Development (PPSD), early stakeholder and market engagement is being undertaken to better understand the market context and identify capable suppliers, contractors, and consulting firms.
In view of the above, the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) hereby invites interested private sector stakeholders and industry players (i.e., Contractors, Suppliers, and Consulting Firms) working in the water resources, hydraulic infrastructure, and climate-resilient development sectors to a consultation meeting at BST 10:00 AM (GMT+6.00) on 09 June 2026 (Tuesday) at Conference Room of Director General, Room# 507, Level-5, Pani Bhaban, BWDB, Dhaka, by nominating a representative with adequate knowledge of the firm’s experience and market capabilities. The meeting will be held to present the overall project scope and procurement approach and to receive feedback from market participants.
The consultation will focus on key project interventions, including rehabilitation and upgrading of polders, embankment strengthening and slope protection, repair and improvement of hydraulic structures and drainage systems, canal re-excavation and flood management systems, as well as associated consultancy services related to design, supervision, monitoring, and institutional capacity building.
The objectives of the meeting are to:
• Relay general information on the project to private sector stakeholders.
• Present details of the procurement components, including nature of procurement, delivery models, expected procurement packages, and implementation arrangements; and
• Receive feedback from industry participants on market capacity, potential risks, and the suitability of the proposed procurement approach, to inform the project preparation.
We strongly encourage potential Bidders (Contractors, Suppliers, and Consulting Firms) to participate in this process and use the meeting as an opportunity to provide inputs and raise questions regarding upcoming procurement opportunities under the project. Interested organizations are requested to nominate only one representative with adequate knowledge of their firm’s experience and market capabilities.
International firms that are unable to attend in person may also participate online through the Zoom platform using the Meeting ID and Passcode provided below. It is preferable to inform us in advance regarding virtual participation by email.
